If you work out, have a job that involves heavy lifting, or just plain carry a lot of stuff around, you probably know the pain of sore shoulders. It’s no fun at all! Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to get relief from this common problem.
Use a heat pack.
You can also use a heat pack to help relieve shoulder pain. Heat packs are available at most drug stores, and they come in all shapes, sizes and materials. The best ones for shoulder soreness are those that are small enough to fit over your shoulder but large enough to cover the entire area of your upper back as well.
Heat packs improve blood circulation in the areas where they’re applied–this is why they’re so effective at relieving muscle aches and pains!
Have a massage
Massages can help relieve pain and inflammation, as well as break up scar tissue. If you’re not sure where to go, look for a spa or massage studio in your area that offers different types of massages–Swedish, deep tissue and Shiatsu are all good choices! You can also buy a handheld electric massager that fits over your shoulder blades and vibrates away soreness at home.
Try physical therapy
If you’ve been suffering from shoulder pain for a long time, physical therapy can help. Physical therapists are trained to help people with injuries like yours learn how to use their body correctly and manage pain. They’ll teach you exercises that strengthen the muscles around your shoulder, which can make it easier for you to move around without feeling pain or discomfort.
They won’t be able to cure anything–but they can teach you what’s causing your discomfort so that when someone says “do this” or “don’t do that,” at least now there will be some context behind those instructions!
If you’re suffering from shoulder soreness, there are plenty of ways to relieve the pain. You can try heat packs, massage or physical therapy. If those don’t work for you, it might be time to see a doctor who specializes in this area (such as an orthopedic surgeon).
