Tips for Cycling Safety

It’s important that you are safe while cycling. Cycling is a great way to commute, get exercise and enjoy the outdoors. The more you cycle, the better your safety skills will be. By following these simple tips, you can keep yourself safe while biking:

Keep your bicycle in good working order.

If you’re a regular cyclist, it’s important to keep your bicycle in good working order. This can help you avoid any accidents and make it easier for you to ride safely. You should check the following things before riding:

Tire pressure. This is especially important if you have a narrow tire, or if there’s only one size of tire available at your local bike shop (as opposed to multiple options). Too much air can lead to an unexpected blowout while cornering on wet pavement; too little air can cause flat tires more often than normal.

Brakes. Make sure that both brake pads are contacting each other when firmly applied and that none of them is rubbing against the wheel rim or spokes—this could cause damage over time and make it harder for you activate the brakes when needed! Check all nuts/bolts holding everything together as well; loose ones could fall off during use or even fly out into traffic behind your bike!

Chain rust & cracks/dents in frame material from curb-hopping antics gone wrong – or just age related wear & tear from daily use over several years since purchase date (depending on model type).

Wear gears.

The first thing to remember when it comes to bicycle safety is to wear a helmet. A helmet should fit snugly, and it should be worn correctly. The straps should be adjusted so that the helmet doesn’t move around on your head if you shake it back and forth. Make sure that the chin strap is fastened tightly enough so that it won’t easily come off in an accident, but make sure not to over-tighten it either! If your helmet fits well with straps properly adjusted and the chin strap securely fastened, you can rest assured that you’re doing everything possible to stay safe while cycling!

Knee sleeves are also a great way to add extra support and warmth to your workout. They can help prevent injuries, such as tendinitis or patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), which often occur due to the repetitive stress placed on the knees during cycling. Look for a pair of compressa knee sleeves that are comfortable and easy to put on; make sure they’re tight enough so that they don’t roll down but not so tight that you feel like you’re going to lose circulation in your legs!

Wear bright clothing.

You should always wear bright clothing, including a helmet. Brightly colored gear is essential for safety and can be a big help if you are involved in an accident.

You should also make sure that you have enough clothes to keep you warm in even the coldest weather conditions. If it’s cold outside, don’t go out without wearing at least a jacket and warm pants or leggings under your shorts or skirt. Make sure that the jacket fits tightly enough so that it won’t flap around while riding but not so tight that it restricts movement when pedaling!

Use lights when riding in dark conditions.

Use lights when riding in dark conditions. Lights should be visible from at least 500 feet away, and a front light and rear light are recommended for optimal visibility.

Attach lights to your bike. If you’re using a backpack or messenger bag, consider purchasing an attachment that fits both your bag and the handlebars of your bike. This will give you the freedom to move between modes of transportation without having to disconnect anything or carry extra items with you!

Remember to always be aware of the conditions around you and other traffic. Even though you may have the best equipment and safety gear, there are still dangers on the road that can cause serious injury or even death. These tips will help keep you safe while riding your bike!
